Privacy
Your sign-ins stay on your computer.
The desktop app and the website are separate. During the beta the app needs no AIObox account and sends nothing to aiobox.app.
What does the desktop app keep?
Everything stays on your computer. Copies of the browser profiles you import live in ~/.aki/cdp/profiles; everything else lives in ~/.aki/aiobox: usage readings, settings, your prompts and macros, the outcome of macro runs, and the windows that were open when AIObox last quit (their addresses, size and place), so Restore windows can reopen them. When you import a profile, AIObox copies only what a session needs and leaves history, bookmarks and saved passwords behind.
What does the desktop app connect to?
- The AI providers you open, inside your own profiles, exactly as your browser would.
- The npm registry, to check which AkiMCP version is current, and Homebrew, winget or npm when you install a tool from the Start or AkiMCP page.
- Cloudflare, through cloudflared, only when you use the Tunnels page.
- Public favicon services, to show provider icons.
During the beta it sends nothing to aiobox.app and has no analytics.
What changes when paid use starts?
The app will ask you to sign in with the same account you use on aiobox.app and, while it is open, tell aiobox.app every 10 minutes which computer it runs on, so Energy can be charged per computer. It will not send your chats, sign-ins, files, usage readings or the pages you open. This policy is updated before that happens.
How do I remove the app's data?
Settings › Reset › Factory reset clears settings and your own files. It never touches browser profiles or their sign-ins; remove ~/.aki/cdp/profiles and ~/.aki/aiobox to delete those too.
What does the website collect?
To limit abuse, aiobox.app records an anonymous client ID, browser, operating system, screen size, time zone and IP address. If you sign in, your account profile from the sign in provider and any wallet transaction records are stored in Cloudflare D1.
Who can I ask about my data?
Email hi@aiobox.app.
